Integrated Content Tracking Suite

FAQ

  1. What is TrackMyContent (TMC)?
Let's say you've downloaded some PDF files. You either saved them all together in a single folder, or in different folders. With TMC, at your convenience, those newly downloaded PDF files can be automatically found and cataloged. Then, they can be looked up and launched in TMC. They can also be cross-indexed by adding additional information such as the creator, publisher, vendor (merchant), genre, rights, warranty expiry and more. The result is a permanent library of those PDF files, without you having to remember where they are and then cataloging them one at a time.
  2. What are some of TMC's strengths?
    • highly automated
    • can cross-index, so things can be looked up in multiple ways
    • allows notes, and a timestamped log of events, to be entered for individual items
    • allows you to embed special information directly into a downloaded filename, at download time, while the information is fresh in your mind (i.e. the cost, vendor, warranty days, notes); then it will be automatically entered in the catalog (see Entering Information at Download Time).
  3. Can files still be moved after TMC has cataloged them?
Yes. TMC includes easy instructions for tracking a file's new location (see Moving Cataloged Files in the documentation). As long as files are moved per TMC's instructions, their new locations are automatically updated in TMC.
  4. How can I lookup files based on when their content was created, so I can focus on newer material, for instance, and avoid wasting time looking through older material?
Sort the Content Date year and month on the Library screen.
  5. Can I update multiple files all at once, say, for instance, if I want to add the same creator to several files?
Yes. On the Library screen, check the checkbox at the left of each row you want to update. Then click the [ Update Tagged ] button at the top of the checkboxes and follow through with your update.
  6. What does the <-AutoSize-> option do?
The <-AutoSize-> option widens or narrows the columns on the Library screen to fit the largest visible data. Clicking the button again (after autosizing, its name changes to ->ResetSize<-) will return the columns to their original widths.
  7. How do Campaigns work?
Click the [ Campaigns ] button, then click the [ Content Pool ] button and position the Content Pool screen somewhere next to the Campaigns screen. Add a campaign to the Campaigns screen. Then, drag and drop an item(s) from the Content Pool screen to the Campaign screen's Content list.
  8. Can I backup TMC?
Yes. The 'File' option on TMC's main screen has a Backup option and a Restore option.
